Summer Internship Available

Metis Group is seeking a motivated college student pursuing a degree in marketing, or a related field, to join us as a summer intern. The intern will have a unique opportunity to learn about marketing, research, and communications for a service provider company. Ideal candidates would be intelligent, energetic, analytical self-starters who possess a strong interest in how marketing, public relations, event planning, sales development, and market research contribute to the success of a company.

Qualifications: 1) Junior or Senior year college student, 2) Strong written and communication skills, 3) Proficient in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher, 4) Organized and detail-oriented, and 5) Ability to take leadership on specific projects and work independently.

This internship will pay a small weekly stipend to cover the cost of commuting and meals. Intern will report to the Director of Marketing. The URTO Welcomes Metis Group

Metis Group presented a seminar, "Labor Law Standards & Updates on Taxing Initiatives for Restaurant Owners and Managers," to the members of the United Restaurant and Tavern Owners of New York (URTO) on Monday, February 22, 2010. The event was hosted at STOUT NYC with approximately 50 people in attendance. Guest speakers Felice Ekelman and Craig Roberts from the law firm of Jackson Lewis LLP joined Metis partner Steven Topal for the two hour seminar. Ms. Ekelman and Mr. Roberts covered the "Top 10" wage and hour tips for restaurateurs while Mr. Topal ended the program with a discussion on how to avoid tax fraud by changing taxpayer' behaviors.

Manager Position Open

Metis Group is currently searching for a Manager in its New York City office. This position will provide clients with accounting and audit work, prepare tax returns, ensure compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements. Prepare audits and related risk assessments for Not-for-Profits. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA license (any state), and qualifying experience including specialized state financial report filings. Must be fluent in the preparation of the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report for Not-for-Profits. Metis Group is on the Move

Two of Metis Group's offices are relocating: the Florida office and the Long Island office.

The Florida office has moved to 4400 N. Federal Highway, Suite 210-27, Boca Raton, Florida 33431. To reach the Florida office, you may e-mail Glenn Friedman at gfriedman@metisgroupllc.com.

The Long Island office will be completing its move to 255 Executive Drive, Suite 107, Plainview, New York 11803 within the first few months of 2010. Partners Barry Pulchin and Olga Danilytcheva, currently housed in the Long Island office, specialize in Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting.

Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft PC Join Metis Group

The firm of Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft PC (RTMK) has merged with Metis Group LLC. The entire RTMK team is excited about the addition of the depth and breadth of resources that Metis Group will provide to their clients.

Construction and renovations are underway in Metis Group's New York City office where RTMK will move in to. Currently located on the 19th floor of 14 Penn Plaza, Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft will have to relocate only one floor down to Metis Group on the 18th floor.

Metis Group LLC Welcomes Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft PC

On January 1, 2010, the firm of Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft PC will be merging with Metis Group Certified Public Accountants LLC. Two new partners, Steven Topal and Richard Miller, will join Metis Group along with their principals and the rest of their staff. Their entire firm will be housed in the New York City office of Metis Group at 14 Penn Plaza, New York, New York 10122.

Steven Topal has been a partner at Rothschild, Topal, Miller & Kraft (RTMK) for more than 25 years. He is also a partner in the law firm of Topal & Topal. Steven brings with him a large client base of restaurants, taverns, and pubs. He also serves on several boards of directors including Metropolitan Jewish Home Care and the Metropolitan Jewish Health System Foundation.

Richard Miller has over 30 years of experience working in accounting. His areas of expertise include closely-held businesses and family-owned businesses, distributors, food processors, and legal entities. In 1991, he became a partner with RTMK.

Building Metis Group by Giving

A string quartet, a hot brunch buffet, an incredible dessert table and beautiful art awaited Metis Group and our clients at the National Arts Club at the 18th Annual Tax Deductible Brunch on Sunday, October 25, 2009. Money was raised for four not-for-profit organizations through ticket sales, donations, a silent auction, and a raffle. This year's beneficiaries were Adopt-A-Dog, The Gateway School, International Theatre & Literacy Project, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The brunch is a fun way to meet and have a great time for Metis Group and our clients. But, more importantly, it embodies what we at Metis Group believe in: that it is important for us to be a part of the community and to give back to causes that make the world a little better.

Metis Group Takes Westchester County

On August 1, 2009, Metis Group moved into its latest suburban location in Armonk, New York. Already with a location west of New York City (Basking Ridge, NJ) as well as east (Long Island, NY), Metis Group now has a northern location and a larger regional presence. Armonk is approximately 30 miles from midtown Manhattan and is in the western part of the county near Greenwich, CT.

Metis Group partner Michael Specht will be working out of the Armonk office. Mr. Specht will be dividing his time between Armonk and New York City.
